Forge FC's Garven Metusala has been called up by Haiti for the 2026 World Cup, joining the team as an injury replacement. Metusala, a 26-year-old central defender, spent four seasons with Forge FC, making 112 appearances in all competitions and winning two CPL titles in 2022 and 2023. He was added to the squad due to an injury suffered by midfielder Leverton Pierre. Metusala joins former Cavalry FC and Canadian men's national team defender Joel Waterman, as players who made their professional debuts in the Canadian Premier League, who will now play in this summer's World Cup. Following his departure from Forge in 2024, he spent the past two seasons with the Colorado Switchbacks in the USL Championship. Haiti kick off their tournament on Saturday against Scotland, as part of a challenging Group C which also includes Brazil and Morocco.
